Today begins the 1956 Rotary District Conference in which Rotarians from the 34 clubs in the Philippines will assemble to discuss Rotary matters, to enjoy their fellowship and to elect the district governor for the incoming Rotary year. Since early in the morning, delegates from the different clubs will be arriving in Baguio and tonight there will be the first fellowship dinner among the delegates to the conference. The program for this conference contains very heavy schedule. There will be discussions morning and afternoon, there will be luncheons and dinners which are intended to increase the fellowship among the Rotarians in the district. There will be entertainment by professional artists and amateurs and there will be fireside meetings to which all the Rotarians visiting Baguio during these days will be invited. For the fireside meetings several Rotarians from Baguio and others from Manila have offered to be the hosts. The conference committee will distribute all the visiting Rotarians from other provinces among the hosts and simultaneously there will be about 25 fireside meetings tomorrow evening, February 24. During the past two weeks, the committees of the conference have been working full-time preparing all the smaller details for the success of the Rotary gathering. The Pines Hotel will be the headquarters for the Rotary conference and in the magnificent hall of the hotel has been established the House of Friendship. There will be a constant information desk available to all Rotarians and the house committee has taken care of the necessary preparations to accommodate the visitors from other provinces. Everything has been planned very carefully and every detail had been the subject of long discussions. The work done by Nanding Manalo a5 general chairman of the conference and the host club will go in the annals of the Rotary history in our district as a landmark. The Balita will report immediately the details of the conference and the resolutions adopted. And today it is urging all the Manila Rotarians to go to Baguio by the first available transportation and enjoy the fellowship of the Rotarians of the district and at the same time take an active part in the important discussions that will take place in the coming days. The Baguio Rotarians have provided also for next Sunday, the last day of the conference, a full program of entertainment with visits to Ambuklas Dam and to other interesting spots in the vicinity and also a golf tournament for the interested Rotarians. To the Baguio Rotarians it is fair to express the admiration of all of us for the magnificent preparations done.
