A plea for fellowship
Description: page 4 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: Could it be said of our club that we neglect the visitor or new member? The Fellowship Committee really has tried hard to make everyone feel at home. That has been an outstanding characteristic of our club, but after taking stock of our situation the conclusion is that we are not as considerate or friendly as we might and should be. Therefore in a sense, we are failing. We do not want this condition to continue. We would like to be known as the most friendly and hospitable of Rotary clubs. It sounds like a large order, but it isn't impossible, because we are capable of attaining that objective. Here is how it can be accomplished: 1. Let every member put aside his shyness and retiring disposition at every meeting. 2. Put yourself out, if necessary, to greet every visitor you see. If possible to help to get him in touch with someone with whom he has something in common. 3. If there is a stranger, please introduce yourself and see to it that he meets others. Talk with him, and you will probably learn something. 4. It is hardly to be expected that a new member will force his acquaintance on you, but he will appreciate it if you take the initiative. Who knows he may turn out to be one of your finest friends. 5. When you see someone you don't know at your meetings, for his, and your sake, go right to him with a friendly greeting! 6. Let every one of us do his full share of being cordial and friendly, and mark my word, we will quickly acquire a fine outstanding reputation in that regard, and it will add greatly to your personal pleasure and happiness. 7. You'll do it, won't you?Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
