Rotary personalities and provincial activities - The Rotary Balita no. 786 (December 15, 1955)
Description: page 39-41 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: MALOLOS A NEW SONG FOR ROTARY Carding Nicolas, the energetic past president of the Rotary Club of Malolos so well known among our fellow Rotarians in Manila, has taken time out from his numerous business enterprises to write a song for Rotary. It is a song written in Tagalog which we are very pleased to reproduce for general knowledge and adoption by Rotary clubs in their song books. - CARDING NICOLAS [Music for the above Tagalog verse is now being composed by Rotarian JB Robl] DUMAGUETE GOVERNOR "DANDING" A RARE ASSET TO ROTARY When an official retires or his term of office expires one of his preoccupations if he has taken his incumbency and responsibility seriously is the quality of his successor and his ability to carry on effectively the Program of the Organization. This is perhaps more so in the case of a retiring Rotary Official because Rotary has grown to such proportions that it is no longer possible to entrust her affairs in the hands of a few able, tried and trusted men as was the case in the early beginnings of the movement. Since quality and quantity do not often go together it is now necessary for Rotary because of her size to depend in many instances upon leaders who may be neither tried nor tested and are not especially prominent. This fortunately is not the case with the 48th District of Rotary International. Since the selection of District Governor "DANDING" Romualdez at the Golden District Conference in Bacolod last February, I at once felt at ease, confident in the thought that in him I was going to have an extraordinarily worthy and able successor and that under his leadership Rotary in the Philippines will continue to grow in strength and in effectiveness. It is not often that a Rotary District has the good fortune of having as Governor a Rotarian of the prestige, prominence and sense of consecration of Governor "DANDING." For one thing they often do not have the time nor the urge to do the work that Rotary requires, and the honor of the position do not have any special appeal to them in their exalted position. If they accept the position at all they do so only because of a special sense of dedication and a real desire to serve. In such a case the district is fortunate indeed because it will have the benefit not only of strong and effective leadership but of greater standing and influence because of the prestige and prominence of the leader. Every Rotarian of the 48th District of R. I. should feel a special sense of pride and rejoice over their good fortune in having as their Governor one who is not only a consecrated Rotarian but a citizen of national prominence and a man of great ability. Let us make the most of this fortunate situation by giving Governor Danding our utmost support and cooperation so that this Rotary Year under his leadership will become one of the most successful in the history of our Rotary District and our District one of the most active and effective in the Rotary World.
