Young blood
Description: page 18-19 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 650 to 674Summary: One old teacher told me sometime ago that he thoroughly enjoys his work. Teaching has afforded him close contact with the young people. He believes his constant association with the young has exerted a beneficial influence on his life. I can well understand his point of view. Youth is the embodiment of enthusiasm of boundless energy, of ambition and optimism. Untried and unaccustomed to the vicissitudes of life, Youth has often been accused of looking at the world with highly coloured glasses. Nevertheless, Youth's healthy outlook on life is infectious, - and desirable. Those of us who are in "the twilight of life" are anxious that the young be given the training and preparation that will enable them to carry on, - after we're gone. Young men in business and the professions. need the solid experiences and mature judgements of the old as much as the older ones need the fresh outlook of Youth. Membership in a Rotary club will open vast opportunities to the young men. If for nothing else, the selfless spirit of "Service Above Self" that he may embibe, along with the other high and noble ideals of Rotary International, will justify his membership with, or the existence of our organization. -Reprinted from "The Dumaguete Rotarian"Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
