In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 724 to 748Summary: Dr. Raymond W. Miller, visiting FOA lecturer and consultant, cited before the Manila Rotarians last April 8 the work and achievements of the FOA in the field of nutrition, food production and distribution. The FOA, Dr. Miller stated, concerns itself mainly with keeping the different countries better informed in the field of food and agriculture by the deployment of experts to different countries, to advise their respective governments on: 1. Measures to raise the level of nutrition and standards of living of the people; 2. Improvements in the efficiency of the production and distribution of all food and agricultural products; and 3. Amelioration of conditions in rural areas. The visiting consultant mentioned the Philippines particularly as one of the countries that have benefited from FOA's expert advice, resulting in better food production, eradication of rat infestation and enrichment of rice. Dr. Miller pointed out that to raise the standards in rural areas, the FOA has sent expert counsellors to work for the establishment of cooperatives and rural credit associations.
