The Rotary Balita no. 747 (June 10, 1954)

In a concerted move to boost native industries by extensive publicity, officials of the NEPA and the Philippine Chamber of Industries met recently to map out plans. Among those present were Graciano "Gary" Yupangco and Quirino "Greg" Gregorio. Our Dr. Gumersindo "Gumer" Garcia took part in an interesting symposium published recently by a local magazine. Dr. Garcia is president of the Federation of Christian Churches. We're glad that Cornelio "Balmy" Balmaceda is joining the faculty of a local university. The V in the newly opened eine EVER belongs to Vicente "Vic" Rufing. The other letters belong to Elvira, Ernesto and Rafael, respectively. This is the 50th year of the Manila Building and Loan Association, of which Conrado Benitez, who is known to all as Dean, is president. Congratulations to "Elbi" Monzon, for an additional college, that of engineering and architecture. The MLQ Educational Institution is marching on. On Saturday, Senator Gil Puyat will address the first conference of the National Association of Credit Unions in the Philippines. Officers of the association include Dr. Rufino "Pinong" Abriol. Formally launched is the 1954 annual fund campaign of the Community Chest, of which Teodoro "Teddy" Evangelista is general chairman. Jorge "George" B. Vargas is chairman of the board of directors.
