R.I. secretary emphasizes importance of club’s history

Description: page 41 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 724 to 748Summary: When was your club started? What leading citizens were connected with it in the early days? Did any outstanding events give it the momentum it needed to become the success it is today? You speak frequently of Rotary service work today- when did those ideas start? Have you been doing the same sort of things all these years? What would you consider as milestones of Rotary since your club was first organized? How many Rotary clubs have the answers close at hand to questions such as these? Is all this information readily available in your club? Can any district governor or R.I. representative say that information of this type is kept up to date by every club in his district? These are typical of the questions that any Rotary club might be asked to answer about itself during the period of the Golden Anniversary celebration in 1955. While considerable information will be available about the growth and development of Rotary International during its first fifty years, the local press will want supplementary information about the Rotary club in its own community. For this reason the program planning committee of R.I. has suggested that every Rotary club prepare an up to date club history well in advance of the Golden Anniversary so that such information will be available for convenient use as needed. District governors and R.I. representatives can be of great assistance in following through on this suggestion by urging their Rotary clubs to start this activity now so that all club histories will be up to date by 1 July, 1954.
