Summary, etc. | THIS IS no lie: Ralph Hawkins won the liars' contest. OFF TO JAPAN to observe the ceramics industry there is UE President Francisco "Dalup" Dalupan. The UE's vocational school is scheduled to open next month, with its plant and classrooms located at the former Buaya golf club in Caloocan. WITH THE ASIAN games over, our indefatigable Jorge "George" B. Vargas plunged into other activities. As president of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, he addressed some 200 scout leaders at their 15th national convention. As president of the Community Chest, he met with other civic leaders to plot the Chest's fund-raising campaign this year. UNDER THE leadership of its president, Ben Legarda, the Philippine Motor Association is planning to donate a motorcycle for the Manila police department. INDIAN Minister Rashid Ali Baig was one of those who donated blood to the Red Cross blood bank immediately after the games. The donors. were members of the Second Asian Games committee. CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Bienvenido "Totti" Eraña, who was inducted as president of the Philippine Dental Association at the close of its 1954 convention. ADVISER to the Philippine delegation to the Geneva conference is our own Dr. Juan "Johnny" Orendain. ANOTHER DEPARTURE is our own Col. Jaime "Jimmy" Velasquez, acting commissioner of customs, who joined the President's reparations fact-finding mission to Japan. |
