President’s Corner

For the Rotary Club of Manila, the first Rotary Club in Asia, a new chapter begins. We, the World Class Team of Directors and Officers, inherit the tradition of excellence handed down to us over the decades of diligence, labor, hardwork, and integrity of our dedicated predecessors, who planted the seed of Rotary on Philippine shores some ninety-six (96) years ago. This defines the breed of men our club is made of. This, too, shall define the next chapter in the history of our Club’s existence.

Today, as we begin a new era of leadership and Service Above Self within our Club, we also celebrate the start of the service of our own PP Obet Pagdanganan as District Governor of Rotary International District 3810.

We look forward to a year of challenges and opportunities for growth, development, and improvement and hope that, by the end of Rotary Year 2015-2016, our Club will emerge a stronger and more united club, and that it will live up to its reputation as the premier and most respected Rotary Club in the country.

Divided, we will encounter much difficulty. But, united, there is nothing we cannot achieve and accomplish. I enjoin all my fellow Manila Rotarians to take an active role in the development, improvement, and strengthening of our Club. Let us all exert our utmost in living “Service Above Self” and truly being “A Gift to the World.”

I look forward to serving all of you and the Rotary Club of Manila this Rotary Year 2015-2016 and to your active participation in our Club’s activities this Rotary Year 2015-2016.
