Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay appealed to the business sector to help her administration rebuild Makati City and restore good governance.

In her speech during the induction and turnover ceremonies of the Rotary Club of Manila held at the New World Hotel, Mayor Binay, daughter of former Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, stressed the need for a strong partnership between the local government and private sector to “rectify the damage caused by the previous administration.”
“We need to rebuild our city. We need to rebuild good governance in Makati. We need to undo one year’s worth of inefficiency, neglect, and misuse of government resources,” the local chief executive said.

Binay said they should bring back “discipline, peace and order and progress to the city.” She claimed that public service was the first to suffer for what she perceived was a “breakdown in controls that pervaded the city government for a year.”
