Gentlemen,
We, the members of the Rotary Club of Manila, want to express our solidarity with your club and with the whole Korean people in hoping and praying for peace in South and North Korea. We watched with optimistic anticipation the historic summit between the two countries. As the formal end to the Korean War dawns on us, we cannot help but be reminded of the Rotary spirit, for the symbolic gestures of the two leaders evoke our organization’s thrust on Conflict Resolution. Indeed, as Rotarians, we aspire and work to establish unity and camaraderie not only among fellow members but also among the communities that we serve.
As the Rotary Club of Manila, the first in Asia, celebrates its Centennial Year and thus marks one hundred years of Rotary in Asia, we envision lasting peace in this part of the world. Let us together contribute our little part in making this more of a reality during this momentous year.
Yours In Rotary, Jose Jaime C. Policarpio, Jr. President Rotary Club of Manila
