H.E. Koji Haneda
Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines

Ambassador Haneda graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law, and obtained an M.A. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University. Joining the foreign service in 1979, he gained experience handling mainly Japan-US relations, trade negotiations, United Nations matters, and served as Representative of the Government of Japan for Free Trade and Economic Partnership Agreements Negotiations before arriving in Manila in October 2017. He was posted in Manila (first diplomatic post in the early 1980s), London, New Delhi, New York (UN Mission), and Tehran as Japan’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
