President’s Corner

President Jackie Rodriguez welcomes NBI Director Dante A. Gierran to the club, reports on his Davao trip for the T.R.E.E.S. project, and urges better attendance.

President’s Corner

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

It is with the pleasure and honor that I welcome today a noble, and great family friend from the tiny village of Tawan Tawan in the foothills of the majestic Mount Apo. Our guest of honor today rose from very humble, but, love-filled beginnings from a family of highly respected and educated parents who brought their children up with strict ideals to be educated, to love their country, to be law-abiding and respectful to all.

I had the honor of meeting and knowing the Gierran family well. And I’ve had nothing but respect, love and admiration for every single one of them. I’m so proud, not only because he is the director of the country’s most important crime-fighting unit, but, also because he is a member of our very own club. Welcome home my friend.

This Friday, I fly to Davao where Chairman Raffy and I will be working with various Rotary Clubs on our national T.R.E.E.S. project. We will be meeting with over a dozen club presidents. We will conduct planning sessions and two press conferences. On the sixth (6th) of August, I will be speaking in a joint meeting of various Davao-based Rotary clubs, including, the main club, our daughter club, the Rotary Club of Davao. Again, our Ambassador of Goodwill program and our T.R.E.E.S. will be the main subject of my talk. If anyone of you will be in Davao at that time, I would like to invite you to join us please. I will treat you to harvest as much fruit as you can carry in my farm. It’s harvest season in Davao.

We’re currently working hard with Past President and Chairman Jimmie to produce our speakers way ahead of time. I’m confident that we shall have fantastic and worthwhile programs. Having said that, I urge you to kindly be a good Rotarian and not only attend our meetings, but, encourage our fellow members who are delinquent in attendance to please attend. We miss them. I’m trying hard to bring up our attendance to at least 50%. Please, please, please help me.

Jackie
