Highlights of Palawan Fellowship

The Rotary Club of Manila delegation was welcomed by seven Palawan Rotary clubs in Puerto Princesa and visited the Puerto Princesa Underground River.

Highlights of Palawan Fellowship

The Welcoming Party at the airport last September 27, 2019 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan eagerly anticipated the arrival of the delegates of the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM). Led by AT Karlo Castro, the welcoming delegation met the RCM delegates upon their arrival. The delegation, then, proceeded to the Prinsesa Garden Resort Hotel aboard an airconditioned jeepney.

After checking-in, the group rested for a while before proceeding to the Palawan Pawnshop Head Office where a sea of Palawan Rotarians from seven (7) Rotary clubs warmly welcomed us led by Rotary Club of Puerto Prinsesa PP Bobby Castro. A brief program ensued where AT Karlo Castro served as Program Moderator and SDG/ Club Secretary/DE/Dir. Albert Alday led the recital of the Four Way Test. Subsequently, President Jackie Rodriguez explained the Ambassador of Goodwill Program and the T.R.E.E.S. Program. Thereafter, the Manila Rotarians, the seven (7) presidents of the Palawan Rotary Clubs and Rotary Club of Puerto Princesa PP Bobby Castro seized a photo opportunity after the exchange of tokens, which consisted of the Centennial Coffee Table Book, Centennial Stamps and bannerettes.

After the program, the group proceeded to the Provincial Capitol for a courtesy call with Palawan Governor Jose “Pepito” Alvarez where Palawan books were given. In the evening, a dinner fellowship was hosted by the governor at the Palawan Pawnshop Head Office where a sumptuous buffet and dancing all night awaited us aside from overflowing alcohol.

The following day, September 28, 2019, the group headed early after breakfast on a three hour van ride to Sabang to ride the boar en-route to the island where the Puerto Princesa Underground River is located. Upon reaching the place, a photo opportunity presented itself and after a short distance, boarded the banca for the Puerto Princesa Underground River where the group discovered a whole new world in the cave. Lunch Fellowship hosted by Former Mayor Ed Hagedorn followed after the Underground River adventure at Sheridan Resort in Palawan. The group returned to the hotel for a swimming fellowship before savoring delectable dishes at Kalui
