US Ambassador Kim Bids Farewell
Ambassador Sung Kim opened with a statement on his new assignment and said he will miss his fellow Manila Rotarians, especially the Rotary Club of Manila World Famous Chorale.
Saying goodbye seems the most difficult of realities we have in enduring the realities of life. Most people find it hard to express words. But, not for a most gracious ambassador who has embraced the Filipino nation like his own. His Excellency Sung Kim, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of the Philippines, was akin to a student graduating with highest honors as he opened with a statement on his new assignment bearing a nostalgic mood in uttering that he will miss his fellow Manila Rotarians, especially, the performances by the Rotary Club of Manila World Famous Chorale.
Anchoring most of his brief talk on the gains of US-Philippine diplomatic and bilateral relations, he relished extending his hands in finding open doors of dialogues and building warm and cordial relations with the present administration and the US Companies’ role in the “Build, Build, Build” initiatives. Assurances on best practices, honoring the bilateral defense treaty and upholding the recitals of the UNCLOS on the West Philippine Sea delighted the engaged audience on hand.
Mild mannered and congenial to say the least, undoubtedly, Ambassador Kim has endeared himself to a country whose history is closely intertwined with that Great American heritage that has left countries around the world in awe.
