President’s Corner

President Jackie Rodriguez thanks Rep. Martin Romualdez, announces the club's delegation to India and introduces WHO Representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe.

President’s Corner

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

We had a fantastic speaker last Thursday in the person of Rep. Martin Romualdez. His presentation on the activities of Congress and on what to expect was clear and very encouraging. It is the caliber of these young men such as the majority floor leader that gives us great hope for a better life for our country. Thank you Martin for taking the time to meet with the Rotary Club of Manila.

A fairly large delegation is going to India on the 13th of this month. We are there to celebrate the third Centennial Club of Asia, the Rotary Club of Calcutta. It is, indeed, a great honor that they will be joining the Rotary Club Centennial Circle. As of today, counting on the Rotary Club of Calcutta, there are only three centennial members. I believe the Rotary Club of Tokyo will be the fourth member.

This week, we have a very interesting speaker in the person of a man who is the most knowledgeable on the most alarming virus that has taken, not only China, but, the world by storm, the Novel Corona Virus (nCoV), which he will thoroughly explain. Welcome to our club, Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, the representative of the World Health Organization to our country. I’m sure he will assuage all our fears regarding this menace to the human race.

Best, Jackie
