President's Corner

The president reports a record turnout in the club's first virtual election and the district's Memorandum of Understanding with DENR on Manila Bay and tree planting.

Dear Fellow RCM members,

During the closing of the elections last September 24, 2020, we hit a record high of 91 registered members for the quorum. The minimum target was 68. We had 1 unqualified voter, 5 members who failed to return because of some glitches and 85 members who voted during the first virtual election in the history of RCM! We congratulate STAR Rtn. Tobias "Toby" Rast who made it happen! Toby needs more than applause. We thank him for sacrificing a lot of time and work since we took over in July for a virtual meeting. We congratulate the Comelec for working hard in testing different applications to bring out the best for RCM led by Chair IPP Jackie Rodrigeuez, PDG Alex Cureg, PDG Vince Carlos, Vice Chair PDG Rudy Bediones, PDG Obet Pagdanganan, Dir, Celso Abastillas, PD Nick Locsin, Rtn. Manny Blanco, and Rtn. Willie Peliño. We salute the Secretariat Team for dedicating their time and effort for this election led by ES Anna Toledo, Maricon Bigcas, and Ale Claire Badulid-Leviste. We thank STAR Rtn. Toby Rust who sponsored the Election Runner program fee.

This is a milestone and a living testament that the leadership is overwhelmingly supported by true-hearted Rotarians. In turn, I promise to undertake the expectations of a true leader. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who have chosen to trust the process.

We will continue to ensure the cleansing of our ranks. This is the baton I will turn over to the next set of officers led by PE/PVP Chito Zaldarriga who will continue to uphold and implement the Four Way Test and subscribe to ethical standards and moral principles.

Last Saturday, September 19 2020, the document of support was given to Secretary Roy Cimatu by DG Odie Tarriela on behalf of District 3810. Also, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by DG Odie Tarriela and DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu on behalf of 116 Club Presidents of District 3810 who will support different projects for the Clean Up of Manila Bay, Conservation and Development of Clean Water and Tree Planting. These are key projects initiated by Manila Yacht Club and RCM in 2019 with Secretary Roy Cimatu and with Vice Chair Jackie Rodriguez.

We have become the catalyst of change and a disruptor to create more changes for the better good of the entire Rotary movement in the country.

The next move is the meeting of DG Odie Tarriela with the nine other District Governors all over the country to support the same projects of District 3810 for the next six years. When this is finalized, the entire Rotary movement will be working as one with DENR, DPWH, DILG, and the LGU's for sustainable projects to promote the environment. This will be another milestone in the Rotary movement worldwide.

This will definitely help our fellow men when we have a sustainable environment with more trees and sufficient supply of clean water.

Our diversity becomes our strength provided we believe and implement the Four Way Test of what we think, say or do.

With God's blessings, I wish you, your family, and friends - abundance, wellness, happiness, and peace in your hearts.

Your Servant President,
