President’s Corner

President Bobby Joseph thanks those who made the October 29 Joint Handover, Inaugural and Awarding Ceremonies possible and outlines the club’s outreach programs.

Dear Fellow RCM members,

Last October 29, 2020, we held the RCM Joint Handover, Inaugural and Awarding Ceremonies at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City. Everyone enjoyed this remarkable event and stayed until the raffle. We would like to thank those who attended the event, physically and remotely through Zoom. A special thank you to Director Farid Shoucair and Programs Committee Chairman IPVP Hermie Esguerra for upgrading the event and making it extra special.

Congratulations to all the club awardees! The most number of awards were presented to ASAG/Dir. Albert Alday who worked diligently with the Rotary Movement in our club, the district and Rotaract. We had three awardees who received the best attendance awards - ASAG/Dir. Albert Alday, IPP Jackie Rodriguez, and PDG Vince Carlos. The spotlights for the evening were focused on Star Rotarian of the Year Club Secretary Reginald “Reggie” Yu and the man of the hour, the Rotarian of the Year, the second time around, Programs Committee Chairman IPVP Herminio “Hermie” Esguerra.

We appreciate the support of the Past District Governors of our club, namely, Vince Carlos, Obet Pagdanganan, and Rudy Bediones. We also had IPDG Liza Elorde, District Governor Odie Tarriela, DGE Robert Koa, and DGN Joyce Ambray.

Wines were free flowing and we were very impressed with the food. Thank you to Philippine Wine Merchants and Ralph’s Wines and Spirits for sponsoring the wines, food, and quartet string band. The program, set up and service were excellent! Thanks to the Wings & Motion Entertainment Production team which was a surprise gift from Programs Committee Chairman Hermie Esguerra.

The Board is facing new challenges as we entered into various outreach programs, namely, the Tuloy Foundation of Fr. Rocky Evangelista, the cancer-stricken children of the Philippine General Hospital, the Hospicio de San Jose Cerebral Palsy Center Project headed by PD Phil Ong, the Hydroponics Vegetable, Training and Supply of Equipment in collaboration with the district, the Rotary Education Assistance Program (REAP) and Global Grants from different clubs overseas for another project with the Hospicio de San Jose. So far, all donations since July have been initiated by the undersigned. The only fundraising made by our members is Project Anna and we have a balance of Php 650,000. We shall call for another donation to increase the amount to include some Rotarians who may need assistance.

We are intensifying the Ambassador of Goodwill Program, the campaign for clean waters through our Save Manila Bay Project and the T.R.E.E.S. Program. We are also working more with the district on other outreach projects. We have much ahead of us as this year is a banner year despite the pandemic.

Let us all continue to pray for good health and ask God to bless us with a joyful and positive attitude.

Maraming Salamat!

Your Servant President, Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph, Jr., President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
