President’s Corner

President Bobby Joseph reports on Rotary Foundation giving, the District Governor’s 12 Point Challenge, the Save Manila Bay project, membership growth and a planned meeting with PCCI.

Dear Colleagues in Rotary,

We are appealing for members to donate US $1,000 to support the worldwide Rotary Fund under the auspices of The Rotary Foundation to help the different projects for the needy. As Rotarians, this is a common practice to support Rotary International in achieving its goal of helping mankind. We thank PDG Vince Carlos who will head the campaign to pursue those who have not completed the minimum requirement as expected of true blooded Rotarians. PDG Rudy Bediones is undergoing surgery. Hence, he won’t be able to be active towards this end.

For promoting Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution, we joined the Judicial Reform Initiative (JRI). This was suggested by PP Ebot Tan and we immediately acted on it. We shall be supporting other activities that can prevent Conflict and Promote Peace in the country. We shall also invite renowned speakers from the district on Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Before the year ends, it is our aim to achieve the District Governor’s 12 Point Challenge. So far, we have achieved 8 out of 12 as of the Midyear Report. On the Rotary International Presidential Citation, we have accomplished 18 out of 25 to date.

One legacy project that is on the go is the Clean Water Project through the Save Manila Bay which started in 2019. This gargantuan project is expected to be fully accomplished in six (6) years. You may notice that Manila Water and Maynilad are stepping up the construction of more sewage treatment plants and their forthcoming effects on the residents of the metropolis are imminent. More are in the pipeline and we are sure we can achieve them all by the end of our term. The projects we are undertaking have to roll over with the change of leadership to make it sustainable.

We are blessed that the President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is none other than our fellow Manila Rtn. Benedicto “Dicky” V. Yujuico. Through DE/Dir. Johnny Chotrani, a formal meeting will be hosted for thirty (30) Rotarians on the prospects and challenges the country will have to embrace to remain competitive for the near future. We shall also support the leadership coaching/mentoring programs of PCCI and also invite their members to join RCM.

Our membership is growing. We thank members who have invited talented and successful leaders to join RCM. We would like to ask you to invite one (1) member to RCM. Based on record, many have not invited at least one member to join our club. Imagine if they did?!!!

On International Service, connecting members are in full swing as regular meetings are being held on a weekly basis. Anyone who is willing to join the Ambassador of Goodwill Program, kindly give us a buzz.

Thank you for all your help as we turn the club into a dynamic, passionate and benevolent transformation of members in reaching out to the needy, especially, during these trying times.

Mabuhay!

Your Servant,

Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph Jr. President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
