Know Your Club Constitution, By-Laws and Policies

Two items from the Code of Policies: cooperation with other organizations and the prohibition on circularizing the club roster.

Q: What are the parameters on cooperation of the Rotary Club of Manila with other organizations?

A: The following item in the Code of Policies is authoritative:

“7.3 Cooperation with Other Organizations Partnerships and alliances are considered to be longer term relationships which may or may not be tied to specific events, with another organization which RCM, may forge subject to Board’s approval and periodic review to ensure relevance and propriety of continuing with such relationship. Sponsorships are considered to be short-term, event-specific relationships with another organization which benefit RCM in image-enhancing, promotional, monetary or other ways. Each sponsorship relationship should terminate with the completion of the sponsored event. RCM may support and cooperate with other organizations in specific projects and activities provided that: RCM’s autonomy as an independent organization is preserved; appropriate recognition for RCM is obtained, to the extent that it is STD; RCM does not accept an ongoing financial obligation to the organization, but provides opportunities for RCM to review and decide upon continuing support of such projects or activities; and RCM does not become a member of the cooperating organization.”

Q: Is there a prohibition on the circularization of the Rotary Club of Manila Club Roster?

A: The following item in the Code of Policies is authoritative:

“7.2 Prohibition Regarding Circularization of Club Roster The RCM Club Roster has been printed for the exclusive use of the club’s members. Unauthorized circularization of the roster to any person, other than an RCM member, is prohibited and subject to seizure if found in the possession of non-RCM member. The RCM member who directly or indirectly allows or participate in the circularization of the club roster can be appropriately disciplined.”
