Profile of Life Changing District Governor Robert Koa

District Governor Robert G. Koa began his Rotary journey in 2004-2005 at the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan Manila and became District 3810 Governor for Rotary Year 2021-2022.

DG Robert G. Koa started his Rotary Journey when he joined Rotary Club of Bagumbayan Manila (RCBM) during Rotary Year 2004-2005. It was also the centennial year of RCBM under the leadership of President/SDG Edison “Magic” Ong. He received the “Most Outstanding Baby Rotarian of the Year” and “100% Attendance Award” during his first year as a Rotarian. The next year, Rotary Year 2005-2006, he was elected as President-Nominee of RCBM for Rotary Year 2007-2008. He also received the “Most Outstanding Rotarian Award” that year.

Rotary Year 2006-2007 gave DG Robert a lot of opportunities and awards to be thankful for. With only three years of experience as a Rotarian, he was honored as the First Royce Abby Awardee not only in our district but in the whole country. He also received the “Most Outstanding Rotarian” award for two consecutive years. The list continues as he received his Presidential “Service Above Self” Platinum Award & yet another Perfect Attendance Award. On top of that, he became a Paul Harris Fellow that year.

Rotary Year 2007-2008 was DG Robert’s term as President of Rotary Club of Bagumbayan Manila under Rotary Theme: Rotary Shares. During his presidency, he was recognized by the Western Police District for the Medical & Dental Mission held in their area. He has signed a sister club agreement with RC Mactan Lapu-Lapu of District 3860. Moreover, he launched a Cleft Lip and Clip Plate Operation for 86 indigent children and adults in Lipa City. Under his term as RCBM’s President, he became a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. The awards DG Robert and RCBM received that year were as follows: Most Outstanding Rotary Club, Most Outstanding Club President, Leadership Award, Outstanding Rotary Club for Membership Gain, Best Club in Rotary Foundation Program, Best Club in Membership Attendance, Outstanding Rotary Club in TRF Contribution, Best Club for Club Administration, Best Interact Program, Best Rotaract Program, Best Career Guidance Project, Best Vocational Awareness Project, and Best Club in Highest Membership Net Gain.

The years after his presidency, he took up positions in the district. In Rotary Year 2008-2009, he was appointed by PDG Josie Ang as Assistant Governor for Manila Area and received the RI Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians Award, awarded by RI President Dong Kum Lee.

During Rotary Year 2009-2010, DG Robert was appointed by PDG Connie Beltran as District Deputy Governor for Presidential Citation. He served as Chair of Rotary Street Children Tuloy Foundation in Rotary Year 2010-2011 led by PDG Tranquil Gervacio Salvador III. He served the district as Chief of Staff of PDG Ernie Choa during Rotary Year 2011-2012. Three years later, he got appointed as District Secretary of PDG Edmond Aguilar in Rotary Year 2014-2015. For Rotary Years 2015-2016 and 2017-2018, he served the District by being the Senior Deputy Governor for Programs and Chief of Staff under the leadership of PDG Roberto “Obet” Pagdanganan and PDG Emmanuel “Loy” Cosico (+), respectively. During Rotary Year 2018-2019, he served the district again as Senior Deputy Governor for Programs under the leadership of PDG Rudy Bediones. That year, he also ran as District Governor-Nominee and won.

This has been his journey in Service Above Self towards becoming the ever hardworking and supportive District Governor of Rotary International District 3810 for Rotary Year 2021-2022.
