President’s Corner

President Chito Zaldarriaga welcomes the day's guest on Taal Volcano, reports on the first Board meeting and renews the call for new members, Paul Harris Fellows and Foundation members.

Dear Fellow RCM Members,

Greetings! As we meet today, July 15, 2021, we are graced by the presence of our distinguished guest with a “hot” topic! We will hopefully all gain new insight as to the volatile dynamics of Taal Volcano which is tightly being monitored by his team from PHILVOLCS. As if we don’t have enough challenges with this pandemic which is showing new fangs of more contagious variants. Hopefully, the acceleration of vaccination schedules will outrun the spread of these variants. Let us continue to be vigilant and prayerful about all these.

In the recently concluded first Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors last July 13, 2021, we covered vital items regarding membership, committee assignments and confirmed the respective Directors-in-Charge for each Service Cluster. We encourage everyone to join one (or more) committees where you will be able to contribute and help the various teams move with more power and provide guidance from the rich source of talent, namely, you - the formidable members of RCM.

As we are already feeling the response of our call for membership build up through our battlecry, “Everyone, Bring One!”, this should not be taken literally. We are all encouraged to bring not just one, but as many select eligible and qualified new members as we can!

I would also like to remind everyone who have not yet signed up to be a Paul Harris Fellow to please do so! Our target is to have ALL our RCM members (Old and New) to become a Paul Harris Fellow this year. Let’s strive to make this a reality please!

We reiterate the invitation to our RCM members to join the RCManila Foundation, Inc. The presentation we had last week prompted many of our members to express willingness to be part of the foundation!

Finally, if you are reading this issue of the BALITA, I strongly urge you to regularly attend our Zoom meetings! The team headed by Programs Committee Chairman PVP Hermie Esguerra is putting a lot of effort behind these meetings where the improvements and enhancements are becoming more evident every week! Let’s all Zoom in folks!

Stay well my RCM Brothers! May God protect and bless us all!

Humbly yours in Rotary, FSZ
