Magandang Araw Mga Kapatid ng Rotary Club of Manila!

We celebrated “Araw ng mga Bayani” last Monday to celebrate the heroes of our country. Indeed, this pandemic has created a lot of brave new heroes. Aside from the obvious doctors, nurses, medical practitioners, there are those ancillary heroes who have been relentlessly doing their roles (e.g. the delivery riders, the actual food suppliers, etc.) Even within our own ranks, there are a handful of you who have done your vital part in this new reality, and for that, I salute you all.

We had an RCManila Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees meeting last Monday and a lot of items were acted upon. The road map was presented by STAR Rtn. Teddy Kalaw IV. The various Chairmen were elected for Ways and Means, Financial Disbursement, Audit, Risk and Compliance and Project Evaluation. Trustee Lito Sibayan was chosen as Chairman of the Project Evaluation Committee. RCManila Foundation, Inc. President Susing Pineda was chosen as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Trustee/Treasurer Pepo Nuñez was chosen as Chairman of the Financial Disbursement Committee. Trustee Celso Abastillas was chosen as Chairman of the Audit Risk and Compliance Committee. The PCNC accreditation in this year’s renewal is paramount to this process. The Board of Trustees of the RCManila Foundation, Inc. also approved the following projects which will be under the aegis of the foundation and the club jointly, namely, the MMDA / PDA / RCM Inoculation project, the Hospicio de San Jose Emergency Assistance Project and the Aeta Scholarship Project, among others, which we will be formally announcing soon.

I will need to make mention of our Programs Committee Chairman and RCManila Foundation, Inc. Chairman Hermie Esguerra. He is pervasive in making all these remarkable efforts possible. A separate salute to you Hermie!

Today’s meeting will be very important because aside from the Classification Talk of our STAR Rtn. Rami Chawan who will walk us through the state of the fastfood industry, we will be discussing the dynamics of our upcoming elections. We conducted a successful digital last RY 2020-2021 and we will have another one this year. Please ensure your undivided attention during this meeting. Our Head of the Committee on Election is no less than IPP Bobby Joseph.

We will be issuing the updated guidelines on the use of the different Rotary Club of Manila Viber Groups. These days, we are currently posting material without much order and the labels are no longer being observed. Let us please take heed and be all compliant to these guidelines. We will have our SAA Dave Reynolds ably assisted by DSAA Jason Bogovich in ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
