President’s Corner

President Chito Zaldarriaga recounts how the club responded when Dir. Thad Liamzon was in a vehicular accident, and welcomes PDG Vince Carlos.

President’s Corner

Greetings my RCM Brothers,

It is in times of crisis that one realizes how precious a brotherhood such as ours truly is. As many of you know, last weekend, our Director and Immediate Past Vice President Thad Liamzon figured in a vehicular accident that ended up with him being rushed to a hospital in Quezon City. Accordingly, there was a certain Corporal Arevalo who was in possession of his mobile phone and made a series of calls to the contact list in his phone. My instinct was to call and verify the situation. After the hospital confirmed that our patient was indeed in the ER, I contacted Roma, Thad’s wife, who was already on the way to the hospital. What transpired after that was a flurry of a handful of our members who kicked into action to give him the best medical attention possible. His stroke was the main concern of everyone. I called the secretary of Eckie Gonzales (son of our late fellow Manila Rtn. Ambassador Ralf Gonzales) of Medical City to coordinate the expediting of his admission in the Neuro-ICU unit. Very tense moments followed after that. There was a prayer meeting with Fr. Alex Balatbat which PE/PVP Hermie Esguerra graciously arranged via Zoom. At some point, we were apprised that the procedure that was done for Thad was a great success. I enjoin one and all to continue praying for Thad. May Almighty God grant him full recovery from this episode and bring him back as good as new. We need to hear that operatic voice of his again.

Today, we have the opportunity to hear our very own Past District Governor Vince Carlos who will be sharing his learnings and golden nuggets of wisdom during those glorious years of the Rotary Club of Manila which happened to occur during his presidency. I am excited to learn from this magnificent friend and colleague.

God bless us all.

Humbly yours in Rotary,
