President’s Corner
President Chito Zaldarriaga previews the club’s signature awards, the second wave of the Odette drive and Guest Speaker Dr. Eric Tayag’s talk on the Omicron variant.

Good day my dear RCM Brothers!
We are grinding to the final week of the first month of 2022 and so much has already transpired. As of this writing we shall have submitted our Mid-Year Report to the district. What was supposed to be a face to face meeting in Tagaytay was postponed (for obvious reasons) and tentatively moved to the last week of February. We have accomplished much, but a lot of work has yet to be done.
We are gearing up for our three signature projects of RCM, namely, Journalism Awards, Tourism Awards and the Tower Awards. Every year, all of these awards, are anticipated and much coveted by the respective players of these fields. Our formidable Chairmen, Dir. Amading Valdez, DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph and PP Susing Pineda are rolling up their sleeves to ramp up these hallmark projects of our club as we head towards the second half of our Rotary year.
The second wave of our Odette drive is well on its way, this time coursing our much needed contributions through RCManila Foundation, Inc. I urge one and all to please participate this time in this noble endeavor if you haven’t yet or join again even if you have already participated in the first drive. The need out there is real and is badly needed. This time, the target is to provide Water, Power and Shelter. The team headed by PE Hermie Esguerra, IAS Mike Albaña and others will do an update to the members today. I thank all of you who have generously given and joined in this effort, as I thank in advance those who have yet to join this drive.
Nowadays, there is so much information about what is going on regarding this CoVid surge. It is getting confusing as to what to believe and what to pass off as fake news (of which is spreading almost as rapidly as OMICRON). Today, we shall have a straight talk about what is really going on around us, a professional point of view as to what exactly this OMICRON variant is, how it differs from the DELTA variant and how best to cope with it.
Let us all warmly welcome our Guest Speaker, Rotary Club of Manila 101 PP ENRIQUE “ERIC” A. TAYAG, M.D., PHSAE, FPSMID, CESO III, Director IV for Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service of our Department of Health, today, in our Weekly Membership Meeting! By the way, Dr. Tayag is a Past President of Rotary Club of Manila 101 from RY 2017-2019 and currently, the Chairman of the CoVid-19 Prevention and Awareness Committee of Rotary International District 3810. Let’s get the facts straight from the fellow Rotarian and Doctor himself!
Stay safe everyone! May God, indeed, protect us and the families we represent!
Humbly yours in Rotary, FSZ
