President’s Corner

President Chito Zaldarriaga reports on PP Toting del Rosario’s 95th birthday, the Odette relief efforts, the TOWER Awards preparations and Dir. Thad Liamzon’s recovery.

President’s Corner

Greetings Fellow Manila Rotarians!

As of this writing, the CoVid-19 numbers have dramatically dropped today. It is our hope and collective prayer that we are able to see this confounded pandemic finally do a rapid exit.

Last Saturday, quite a number of us were able to virtually join the birthday party of our dear PP Ambassador Toting Del Rosario. This gentleman turned 95 this year. He was joined and greeted by so many of his relatives from all over the globe. The warmth with which they were greeting him was truly manifest of what a truly remarkable man Toting really is. On behalf of all of us, I was able to extend our warmest birthday greetings towards the end of the program.

Earlier during the week, we had the privilege of paying our last respects to the family of former Manila Rotarian PS Carling Munoz who passed on last week. The good ol’ Aleco Adamson Breakfast Group came in full force, headed by PP Archit Bartolome.

While we had the update from Governor Anna Bumagat of District 3860 last meeting with an on the ground situationer regarding our joint efforts on the Super Typhoon Odette Relief Operations Drive, it was touching to see how our fellow Rotarians were working so intensely to alleviate the suffering our Southern brothers are going through. We were also given a very insightful presentation by the debonaire PD Art Lopez who was our featured Classification Talk Speaker. Today, we shall have two more of these formidable gentlemen from our own ranks who will share themselves in our Classification Talks.

Last Monday, we had a productive meeting with the TOWER Awards Committee headed by Chairman PP Susing Pineda and team. Together with the PMAP lead team, the spade work for the annual TOWER Awards event is now well on its way. Chairman DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph has likewise started the ball rolling for the Tourism Awards.

Earlier today, we also had a mass celebration for our dear Dir. Thad Liamzon, who, we are told, is slowly, but surely getting better everyday. Continued prayers are in order folks!

See you all next week! Stay well and safe everyone! God bless and protect us all!

Humbly yours in Rotary, FSZ
