Rotary Club of Manila-Dualtech Scholarship Program Holds Second Awarding of Scholars

New scholars were presented at the Dualtech Training Center on March 27, 2022, bringing the program to forty-five scholars against a 2022 target of one hundred.

Last March 27, 2022, RDSP Chairman DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph and RDSP Co-Chairman STAR Rtn. Anton Mauricio hosted the presentation of new scholars at the Dualtech Training Center. Dualtech scholars exemplify commitment to their studies and honesty in their everyday lives. Male scholars take a two-year electro-mechanical technical-vocational course at Dualtech with one and a half (1.5) years of OJT. Female scholars undergo a one-year culinary arts program run by Punlaan School with seven (7) months of OJT. To date, twenty-five (25) scholars have been awarded by the RDSP with more sponsorships coming this year.

Notable guests who attended the event included DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph, DGE Joyce Ambray, RCManila Foundation, Inc. Chairman and Rotary Club of Manila Programs Committee Chairman PE/PVP Hermie Esguerra, DDCC Mylene Co and son Alex, SDG Joie Gabat, DAD Diwata Gabat, RDSP Co-Chairman STAR Rtn. Anton Mauricio, Dualtech President Engr. Arnolfo Morfe, Dualtech Executive Director Jerry Muhi, Rommel Tejada, Philip Valdecañas, Rev. Fr. Willie Ong and STAR Rtn. Joel Talampas and wife Nina.

The lunch and Php 1,000 cash gift per scholar was sponsored by DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph while the venue and logistics were done by Dualtech tech staff led by Philip Valdecañas. Administration and organization were undertaken by the RDSP FEdCenter staff headed by Anj Gumabay. Onsite administration was provided by Cha Perez, Maja Japzon and Jen Rocamora.

On the day of the event, the March target of thirty (30) scholars (including pledges) was exceeded, with thirty-three (33) scholars supported. However, during the presentation of awardees, RCManila Foundation, Inc. Chairman and Rotary Club of Manila Programs Committee Chairman PE/PVP Hermie Esguerra pledged seven (7) more scholars. DDCC/IPP Bobby Joseph pledged five (5) more for July, Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Batch '65 added one (1) more scholar, and CSJL Alumnus Jose Benedicto pledged another scholarship, making an additional fourteen (14) which added to the thirty-three (33) puts the RDSP at a total of forty-five (45) scholars to date. The target for 2022 is a total of one hundred (100) scholarships at Php 65,000 each.
