Message from the Office of the Secretary, Department of Labor and Employment

The Department of Labor and Employment thanks the Rotary Club of Manila and PMAP for recognizing workers' role in the country's economic recovery.

Message from the Office of the Secretary, Department of Labor and Employment

Our deepest appreciation to the Rotary Club of Manila for continuously recognizing the vital role of workers in the country’s economic recovery and growth. We are thankful that we share the firm belief that workers are significant drivers of the economy. The most valuable contribution of nonsupervisory blue-collar and white-collar workers in sustaining and rebuilding our nation is further brought to the fore during the past two years.

The rise of the digital economy, catalyzed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, remarkably changed the world of work. These new challenges brought along novel issues to the labor and employment sector. Against the backdrop, the Filipino workforce demonstrated diligence and resilience which helped the economy gain back the momentum and enter the recovery stage.

This year’s TOWER Awards salutes the exemplary workers who have exhibited commendable performance to support their respective organizations during this difficult time. To date, more than 200 TOWER awardees have already been recognized and we look forward to seeing more outstanding employees continue to emerge and continue to our overall labor productivity.

We thank the Rotary Club of Manila and the People Management Association of the Philippines for being partner in promoting workers’ welfare through uplifting their morale, enhancing career opportunities, promoting industrial peace, and advocating the dignity of labor. On behalf of the labor department, I assure you of our unwavering commitment to pushing for relevant, responsive, and inclusive policies to provide full, decent, and productive employment to every Filipino worker.

My sincerest congratulations to this year’s TOWER awardees. Your dedication to innovate, excel, and bring about significant and positive change in your respective workplaces—despite the setbacks—is truly worth emulating. May you send ripples of inspiration to your communities and encourage more workers to make a difference.

More power to the Rotary Club of Manila! Mabuhay ang TOWER Awards!
