Message from the Office of the President, Rotary Club of Manila

Greetings to One and All!

What a fitting way to culminate the Rotary Year 2021-2022! When we started this year’s term, the challenge for the club was how to most effectively take on the theme, “SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES”. This was during the height of the pandemic when, because of the lockdowns, a lot of people were losing jobs, not having livelihoods, etc. My vision for helping change lives during those times was to provide a basic livelihood for the severely affected individuals who were laid off, lost their jobs and stopped generating income for their families. As such, we place a lot of emphasis on one of the areas of focus of Rotary, ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. A handful of projects were thus, implemented along these lines.

One project which carries with it a dimension of excellence is being celebrated today. It has gained much attention among the corporations as well as the workforce of the nation, the TOWER AWARDS. Annually, as conditions would allow, the PMAP together with DOLE and RCM scan the horizons and look amongst the lynchpin of the workforce to seek the best workers among this vital sector of our workforce. The so-called “Blue-Collar” workers. The process of searching, screening, identifying and finally, awarding these people is, indeed, very noble in itself and I believe is a catalyst for achieving higher performance standards among qualified participants.

This year’s introduction of the “Team Awards” is manifest of the importance of working as a team in any organization. This new category is, expectedly, going to get the companies more involved and conscious of the awards in the coming years.

My utmost congratulations to the organizing team of the PMAP led by Executive Director “Ka Rene” Gener for his team’s unparalleled work for this ongoing noble project. I am proud to be part of this club when esteemed co-members like RCManila Foundation, Inc. President and Rotary Club of Manila Centennial President Susing Pineda, Dir. Amading Valdez and RCManila Foundation, Inc. Chairman and Programs Committee Chairman PE/PVP Hermie Esguerra work together and make this signature project of our club come to fruition – especially, this year because of the crippling restrictions of the pandemic.

Thank you one and all for this truly outstanding TOWER Awards 2022! Of course to the winners - Congratulations to you all! May the Almighty God bless you all!
