President's Corner

President Chito Zaldarriaga reports on Rotary activity in Houston, the joint planning session with the Rotary Club of Manila Premier and the coming Journalism Awards.

President's Corner

Greetings RCM brothers!

Things are really buzzing with so much activity. Our Club is being represented by PDG Vince Carlos in Houston for the Rotary International Convention as of this writing. Also there is PD Nick Locsin who is also the Chairman for the Circle of Centennial Rotary Clubs (CCRC), which was spearheaded by our club. They have a booth that was put together by all the member clubs of the CCRC.

Last week, we had our very own STAR Rtn. Carlos “Caloy” Serapio walk us through his experience of running for the second (2nd) most important government position in the country. He shared the dynamics of the 1% fulcrum principle which was really quite interesting. We are proud of you Caloy!

Last Saturday, we had the incoming Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Manila meet face to face jointly with the incoming Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Manila Premier at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City. It was a very well attended event with both clubs brimming with a lot of energy and enthusiasm to embark on next year’s term! We had Incoming District Trainer PDG Karen Tamayo leading the Joint Club Planning Session, preparing both clubs for next year’s strategic plans and programs. RCManila Foundation, Inc. Chairman and Rotary Club of Manila Programs Committee Chairman PE/PVP Hermie Esguerra’s Phenomenal Leader Rotary Year, indeed, looks like it will be nothing less than Phenomenal!

The “Water Matters” Committee, chaired by STAR Rtn. Evaristo “Junjie” Vazquez Jr., has put together a formidable group of very dynamic members to tackle several issues and challenges we have with regard to our water needs. These gentlemen will be under the keen eye of no less than DE/PD Raffy Alunan in his capacity as Director-in-Charge of the Community Service Group. May the “force” be with you guys!

We are gearing up for our final event for what our beloved club is known for, The Journalism Awards. Chairman Dir. Amading Valdez has outdone himself for this year’s awards program. Abangan!

Today, we have been fortunate to have our very own PVP / BSP Governor, Monetary Board Chairman and incoming DOF Secretary Ben Diokno as our Guest of Honor and Speaker. His office confirmed his attendance despite his busy schedule. He will be joining us at 1:00 pm and since he has a very important press conference right after, he really has to leave at exactly 1:30 pm.

Finally, I will again make the final few appeals and reminders for all of us to be a Paul Harris Fellow and for Everyone to Bring One! Let’s do it gentlemen! May God bless us all! Humbly yours in Rotary, FSZ
