President Hermie Esguerra reports on the Rotary District 3810 delegation to the DISCON of District 2820 in Tsukuba, Japan.

Dear Fellow Manila Rotarians,
We are back from Japan as part of the delegation of Rotary District 3810 which included:

DG Joyce Ambray (RC Manila Premier); Yours truly (Pres. Hermie Esguerra) (RC Manila); PDG Ernesto Yuyek (RC Manuel Roxas Boulevard Manila); PDG Liza Elorde (District Rotary Foundation Chair) (RC Manila Premier); Rtn. Johnny Elorde (RC Manila Premier); DE/Dir. Albert Alday (RC Manila); STAR Rtn. Aries Balanay (RC Manila); DT Girlie Tiu (RC Jose Abad Santos Manila); SDG Winston Tiu (RC Jose Abad Santos Manila); Pres. Jun Pasion (RC Pasay Cybercity); AG Peaches Pasion (RC Pasay Cybercity); Pres. Paul Tie (RC Chinatown Manila); SDG Tess Tie (RC Chinatown Manila)
The primary goals of our delegation were to attend the DISCON of District 2820 and hold a series of meetings with them on projects between our districts.

We attended the Gala Night of the DISCON of Rotary International District 2820 at the Banquet Hall of the Hotel Nikko Tsukuba last October 29, 2022 where we met and exchanged pleasantries with the Past District Governors and the Mayor of Ibaraki. It was during this occasion that we thanked them for the three firetruck pumpers they donated to our district.
We likewise attended the DISCON of Rotary International District 2820 last October 30, 2022 at the Nova Hall in Tsukuba where all the members of our delegation were proudly recognized on a big screen in a brief program, a Japanese tradition in Rotary.

Thereafter, we held a meeting with district officials in furtherance of International Service where we thanked them for their unwavering support to our district through donations and formally requested that whenever they have firetruck pumpers and ambulances to be retired, that they send them to our district on a regular basis as our district requested for more clubs from their district to be sister clubs with those from our district during the talks on our district’s Vocational and Technical Training for Dental Hygienists in the Philippines which likewise entails dental equipment and thus, part of a Global Grant.
We are likewise grateful for all the hospitality extended by District 2820 from the Sushi Lunch given by Rtn. Hiromitsu Shibayama last October 28, 2022 to the Spanish Dinner last October 29, 2022 given by District 2820 officials led by PDG Masazumi Ikeda in Tsukuba as well as the never-ending fellowships, especially, during the Gala Night that gave rise to a warm and cordial atmosphere. The entire trip was a fruitful one with many agreements of support for our district, a clear example of International Service in action.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Pres. Hermie Esguerra
