Atty. Joey Lina, former Philippine senator and president of The Manila Hotel, served in government for 22 years.

Joey Lina served in the government with distinction for 22 years as a two-term senator and two-term governor of Laguna; secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG); chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, National Police Commission, Local Government Academy, and Public Safety College; governor of Metro Manila and general manager of the Metro Manila Commission (now MMDA).
Youngest senator at 35 years old under the 1987 constitution, Joey Lina authored thirty five (35) landmark legislations which include the Lina Law, Barangay Day Care Law, Mandatory membership in Pag-Ibig Fund, lowering the age of majority, among others. As governor, Laguna became the number 1 province in the country for economic development.
Joey Lina was President of League of Provinces and founding president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, an umbrella organization of all leagues of local governments. As DILG secretary, Joey championed the autonomy of local governments.
Presently, Joey Lina teaches constitutional and public corporation law (on leave). He is president of The Manila Hotel and MH F&B Ideas, Inc. He writes a weekly column at the Manila Bulletin. Joey is also a former TV/Radio broadcaster at ABS-CBN DZMM for 19 years.
