Senen Mangalile Assumes Post as Consul General in New York
Filipino diplomat Senen Mangalile, formerly minister of the Philippine Embassy in Switzerland, takes up his post as consul general in New York.

Top Filipino diplomat Senen Mangalile assumes post as consul general in New York. Asserting the country's importance to NYC, Mangalile will keep the city lukewarm to Filipino overtures through "protecting the rights of migrants, strengthening economic linkages and celebrating the significant contributions of Filipino-Americans to the fabric of American society."
Mangalile was minister of the Philippine Embassy in Switzerland. He succeeds journalist/diplomat Elmer Cato, who, it can be recalled, was unceremoniously recalled to Manila before President Marcos' trip to New York last year for the United Nation's General Assembly.
