President's Diary

Dear Fellow Manila Rotarians,

It was an honor for me to join the Rotary International District 3810 Mid-Year Review 2023 which was held in Bangkok, Thailand from January 27 to 29, 2023. I was proud to report the accomplishments of the Rotary Club of Manila from July 2022 until January 2023. The activity was also an amazing opportunity to mingle and network with fellow Rotarians from District 3810.

Here’s a glimpse of the activities and events that happened in Bangkok.

Fellowship at Chao Phraya Princess River Cruise

Friday, 27 January 2023, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The Rotary fellowship at the Chao Phraya Princess River Cruise was one of the highlights of the Mid-Year Review program. This activity gave us an unforgettable experience of the city's iconic view while enjoying a wonderful buffet dinner. We had a chance to mingle with our fellow Rotarians while cruising along the Chao Phraya River.

I am proud to announce that I was awarded a Certificate of Completion with flying colors by Rotary District 3810 officials for my comprehensive six-month report during the Rotary District 3810 Mid-Year Review last Sunday morning, January 29, at the Grand Ballroom of the Amari Watergate Hotel. I also happily received the People’s Choice Award after I was chosen by my peers, the Phenomenal Leader Presidents of Rotary District 3810.

Dinner with Members of the Rotary Club of Bangkok

Sunday, 29 January 2023

Last Sunday, we had the pleasure of having dinner with members of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Bangkok, led by President Nicolas Reschke, at Baan Thai Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand. Manila Rotarians with me were DE/Dir. Albert Alday, Rtn. Momo Mommaerts and STAR Rtn. Aries Balanay. The said dinner resulted in a mutual cooperation between our clubs as I invited them to have a virtual joint membership meeting while we were likewise able to secure their willingness to donate to our forthcoming global grant project on the cleft palate mission.

Overall, the Mid-Year Review was an inspiring and motivating experience. It gave us the opportunity to share our experiences with fellow Rotarians, network with them, and learn from each other’s experiences. I am happy to be back and join you today for our regular Weekly Membership Meeting.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Pres. Hermie Esguerra
