The first 150 of 300 Palawan Cherry Blossom Seedlings were turned over on March 1 to the League of Manila Chinatown Barangay Organizations.

Tree Planting Initiative Along the Esteros of Binondo, Chinatown

In August last year, a meeting was held between DENR officials, Rotary Club of Manila Pasig River Clean Up Project Members led by DGN Jackie C. Rodriguez, Director Hans C. Palacios, RTN. Henry Go, EA Anna Toledo and officials of of the various Barangays in the Chinatown Area, led by Barangay Captain Jefferson Lau in order to kick off a Rotary Club of Manila Pasig River Clean Up Project. It was agreed that to start off this legacy project it would be appropriate to improve the appearance of the esteros in the Binondo/Chinatown area by conducting a tree planting program that would line the pathways of the Esteros with either Indian trees or Cherry Blossom trees.

Today, the 1st of March, the first 150 of 300 Palawan Cherry Blossom Seedlings were turned over to the League of Manila Chinatown Barangay Organizations, represented by Mr. Jefferson Lau.
