14th Weekly Membership Meeting: A Recap

Program Moderator

BLA Raoul Creencia was the week’s Program Moderator who navigated the efficient flow of the meeting. He began by inviting the members of Rotary Club of Manila and guests to be seated to allow the membership meeting to proceed.

Call to Order

Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III called the 14th weekly membership meeting to order.

Invocation

Rtn. Marius Angara led the invocation. The beautiful prayer set the tone for the meeting.

Philippine National Anthem / RCM Hymn

Rotary Members and guests took a position of respect as they sang the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by the singing of the RCM Hymn.

4-Way Test

Rotarians were again reminded of their commitment to live by the 4-Way Test. The recitation of this mantra was led by Rtn. Abdulgani “Gani” M. Macatungan.

The Rotary Club of Manila Hymn and the Welcome Song

The “World Famous” WF Chorale led In the singing of the Rotary Club of Manila Hymn and the Welcome Song.

Announcements

PD John Cutter (Chairman for Disease Prevention and Treatment Committee) invited members to participate in the Rotary Club of Manila Community Oral Health project, which is being pursued in collaboration with Mithing Pangarap for Educational Foundation, Inc., Filipino-Canadian Dental Hygienist Society, and TeethCloud. The activity is set on October 7, 2023 at the Gawad Kalinga Bldg., Balut, Tondo, Manila.

PSAA Gunter Matschuck invited the members to participate to a fellowship Oktoberfest of RCM on October 19, 2023, at the German Club in Makati City.

President’s Time

Pres. Raffy Alunan started his speech by announcing the forthcoming activities such as the ‘Upskills” project of the Rotaract Clubs of Manila and Pamantasan ng Maynila, with Knowledge partners, Rotary Club of Manila, and Manila Magic. In this event, Rtn. Antonilo “Anton” Mauricio will act as one of the guest speakers. Pres. Raffy also announced that next guest of honor and speaker for the 15th Weekly Membership Meeting will be DTI Sec. Alfredo E. Pascual. The Club President also presented the ‘Club Health Check’. He encouraged the members to respond to the Guide Question, which will be disseminated via Viber group, in preparation for the forthcoming Club Assembly on October 26, 2023. Pres. Raffy also shared some photos with some RCMers who attended the District Mid-Autumn Festival held on October 4, 2023, at the Century Seafood Restaurant.

Introduction of the Guest of Honor & Speaker

PP Chito Zaldarriaga introduced the guest of honor and speaker, Sec. Tereso O. Panga, Director General, PEZA.

Guest of Honor and Speaker

PEZA Director-General Tereso O. Panga delivered his message to the memberss and guests of Rotary Club of Manila. In his speech, he underscored the unique role of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, as well as the huge benefits that the country is reaping from the investors and locators in the ecozones.

Open Forum

PEZA Dir-Gen. Tereso Panga gamely engaged in an interactive conversation with Pres. Raffy Alunan, PE Joel Valdez, Rtn. Felicito Payumo, STAR Rtn. Jerry Zhang, Treas. Paul Joseph Garcia, Rtn. Philip Recto, PP Cesar Campos (RC Makati), and STAR Rtn. Billy Andal.

Token of Appreciation

Pres. Raffy Alunan presented the club’s token of appreciation for Sec. Tereso O. Panga, Director General, PEZA, in the presence of BLA Raoul Creencia, STAR Rtn. Billy Andal, PP Chito Zaldarriaga, DGE Jackie Rodriguez (Chairman, Program Committee), Rtn. Marius Angara, Rtn. Abdulgani Macatoman, PD Beda Fajardo, and Rtn. Felicito Payumo.
