At the April 11, 2024 meeting, the Rotary Club of Manila signed a tripartite MoU with the Department of Justice’s Office for ADR and the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators.

Program Moderator

ABLA Teodoro “Teddy” Kalaw IV was the week’s Program Moderator who efficiently navigated the sequence of the meeting. He began by inviting Manila Rotarians to be seated to allow the meeting to officially commence.

Call to Order

Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III called the 35th weekly membership meeting to order.

Invocation

With a heartwarming prayer, Rtn. Vee David led the invocation for the membership.

Philippine National Anthem

Rotarians and guests took a position of respect as they sang the Philippine National Anthem.

Rotary Hymn

Four-Way Test

Rotarians were again reminded of their commitment to live by the Four-Way Test, with the recitation of this mantra led by ABLA Teodoro “Teddy” Kalaw IV.

Welcome Song

Keeping with tradition, the guests were serenaded by the World Famous RCM Chorale with the Club’s signature welcome song.

President’s Time

President Raffy Alunan welcomed all members and guests. He shared a special quote about membership duties and responsibilities, the organization's dynamics, unity among members, and more. Lastly, he reminded and encouraged members once again about attending the forthcoming DISCON, emphasizing that attending the event is a commitment to RI.

Trilateral Signing of MoU

Underscoring its commitment to promoting alternative modes of resolving dispute, the Rotary Club of Manila signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Justice’s Office of ADR, and the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators. This formally launched RCM’s “Leaders Excelling in ADR and Peacemaking [LEAP] Awards” Recognition Program.

Introduction of the Guest of Honor & Speaker

ABLA Tedoro “Teddy” Kalaw introduced the guest of honor and speaker.

Guest of Honor & Speaker

Atty. Irene D.T. Alogoc, Exec. Dir., Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR) of the Department of Justice delivered her talk, which delved, among other topics, into the programs and continuing reforms being undertaken by her office.

Open Forum

OADR Exec. Director, Atty. Irene D.T. Alogoc welcomed the questions posed during the open forum and shared her response in a lively exchange with (below photos from left): Pres. Raffy Alunan, Dir. Hans Palacios, PD Abe Pascual, and Rtn. Vee David.

Token of Appreciation

OADR Exec. Director Atty. Irene D.T. Alogoc was all smiles as she received RCM’s Plaque of Appreciation, witnessed by Rtn. Vee David, Pres. Rafael “Raffy” Alunan, Atty. Jared Amoroso (PIArb’s President), and DGE Jackie Rodriguez.

Adjournment

After thanking the guest speaker and all attendees, the meeting was adjourned by Pres. Rafael “Raffy” Alunan.
