41st Weekly Membership Meeting: A Recap

PROGRAM MODERATOR

Steering the efficient flow of the week’s program as Moderator was Dir. Albert “Hans” C. Palacios. He began by greeting everyone and inviting them all to be seated to allow the meeting to officially commence.

CALL TO ORDER

Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III called the 41st weekly membership meeting to order.

INVOCATION

During the invocation prayer led by BLA Raoul Creencia, all Rotarians and guests paused for a deep and reflective moment. The atmosphere was one of unity and reverence, as everyone joined in collective thought and invocation of the divine.

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL ANTHEM

Rotary Members and guests took a position of respect as they sang the Philippine National Anthem.

ROTARY HYMN

The resounding and meaningful Hymn of Asia’s First Club once again filled the venue.

FOUR-WAY TEST

The recitation of the Four-Way Test was led by Treas. Paul Joseph “PJ” M. Garcia, which provided a timely reminder for all Rotarians to lead and live by this time-honored mantra.

WELCOME SONG

RCM’s unique welcome song for all the attending guests was sang by the World Famous RCM Music Chorale.

PRESIDENT’S TIME

President Raffy Alunan requested the RCM members to give a standing ovation to VP Reggie Yu, for a job well done as Chairman of the Committee which successfully organized the recently concluded RCM’s 105th Anniversary celebration, held on June 1, 2024, at the Manila Hotel.

In addition, Pres. Raffy presented his documentary video, entitled “Tagaligtas,” which featured Mayor Benjie Magalong when he was still an officer of the elite Special Task Force, detailing how he (Mayor Magalong and his men) prevented the jailbreak of over 100 Abu Sayyaf prisoners from their maximum-security prison in Camp Bagong Diwa.

INTRODUCTION OF THE GUEST OF HONOR & SPEAKER

As Mayor Magalong’s classmate in the Philippine Military Academy, Rtn. Crispiniano “Cris” G. Acosta was the perfect choice to introduce the guest of honor and speaker.

SPEECH OF THE GUEST OF HONOR AND SPEAKER

Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” B. Magalong delivered an eye-opening and insightful talk. He sounded the clarion call for everyone’s active involvement in promoting good and responsible governance.

OPEN FORUM

Mayor Benjie Magalong warmly and candidly responded to the questions of the following (below photos from left): PP Domingo “Boy” Guevara, DGE Joaquin “Jackie” Rodriguez Sr., PD Beda Fajardo, and PDG Roberto “Obet” Pagdanganan.

TOKEN OF APPRECIATION

RCM’s Plaque of Appreciation and other tokens were presented to Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” B. Magalong by DGE Joaquin “Jackie” C. Rodriguez and Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III, which was witnessed by Rtn. Crispiniano “Cris” G. Acosta, Dir. Albert “Hans” C. Palacios Sr., Treas. Paul Joseph “PJ” M. Garcia, and BLA Raoul C. Creencia.

ADJOURNMENT

Capping a successful and well-attended meeting, Pres. Raffy sounded the bell to officially adjourn the same.
