2nd RCM Golf Cup

Close to 140 golfers took part in the 2nd RCM Golf Cup at Santa Elena Golf Club on June 24, 2024.

2nd RCM Golf Cup

After close to 6 months of planning, preparations, and solicitations, the 2nd RCM Golf Cup was held last Monday, June 24, 2024 at the pristine Santa Elena Golf Club, which was the same venue as last year’s 1st RCM Golf Cup.

Close to 140 golfers participated and were divided into 3 Classes (A, B, and C) in accordance with their handicap levels.

The opening was kicked off under rainy conditions by an Invocation from PP Boy Guevarra. Fortunately, his prayers were answered as the skies gradually lightened up and showed some sun. Surprisingly, the rains never returned until the last foursome holed out.

We had the traditional ceremonial tee shots from President Raffy Allunan, RCMFI Chair Lito Sibayan, and RCMFI President Willie Peliño. At exactly 8 a.m., the shotgun start was highlighted by close to 70 golfers (A flights; B flights were next) hitting their first tee shots from all 18 holes.

At around 230pm, as the players and other participants were concluding lunch and after the first set of songs from an Entertainer we know very well, Ms. Kate Castillo, Co-Hosts PE Jujut Enriquez, and RCMFI Trustee Anton Mauricio started the Program. Pres. Raffy opened with his Welcome Remarks and the Co-hosts proceeded to acknowledge our 78 Sponsors. Chris Tiu, son-in-law of Hospicio Co-Chair Phillip Ong, shared details of the upcoming Hospicio Art Exhibit in September. At last year’s Art Exhibit, RCM grossed over 2.2 million from art sales, where 2.0 million was used for Hospicio’s infrastructure needs.

Over 130 raffle prizes were given out, followed by the awarding of Tournament winners. Chair Lito then delivered the Closing Remarks where he announced that with the net proceeds, RCM’s charitable projects in RY 2024/2025 are fully funded.

Lito also thanked everyone who had helped, including our Event Organizers led by Ting Puzon-Yupangco and the RCM Secretariat. He also noted the significant contributions by our top 3 Solicitors for Sponsors, Trustee and Treasurer Karlo Castro who brought in the Presentor for a 500k sponsorship, Rtn. Aldous Alingog who brought in the Platinum Sponsor for 300k, and Rtn. Rocco Sarmiento who brought in 9 Sponsors.

The day concluded with the awarding of the major prizes, which included a Lambretta worth PhP 300,000 which was donated by Ropali of Rtn. Aldous Alingog’s family and won by Rtn. Val Co. Aldous recovered a bit of his family’s major donation as he won the 100k PhP cash raffle prize.

Although we are still completing the Golf Cup’s financial reports, it is safe to assume that this year’s RCM Golf Cup will net at least 3.3 Million PhP, which is a 15% improvement from last year’s 1st RCM Golf Cup.

Congratulations again to all of us!!
