The 19th Weekly Membership Meeting of the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) last January 16, was not just another routine gathering at the Manila Polo Club; it was a powerful reminder of the transformative work of the Rotary Club of Manila Foundation, Inc. (RCMFI), celebrated as the Foundation Day.

The day unfolded like a well-rehearsed symphony, with each note playing in harmony with the Foundation’s mission of service above self. The meeting was opened with warmth and reverence by President Eduardo “Jujut” Enriquez III, who, with a steady hand, called the gathering to order. In a brief but moving invocation, Director-Elect Albert “Hans” Palacios set the tone, evoking a sense of gratitude for the work done and the work yet to be accomplished. The centerpiece of the gathering came with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the newest member inducted into the Rotary family: Mr. Dean Y. Cid, Chief Operating Officer of Phinma Hospitality, Inc. Further, Yu laid out the ambitious plans for the future. “We are setting the stage for a truly sustainable foundation,” he shared, revealing a five-year target of Php 10 million to ensure the Foundation’s long-term viability. The establishment of a Trust/Endowment Program, which allows donors to direct funds toward specific causes, adds a layer of permanence to their charitable giving.

One of the most powerful moments of the day was when Yu proudly announced the recent renewal of RCMFI’s Certificate of Tax Exemption, a testament to the Foundation’s compliance, transparency, and efficiency. This achievement ensures that the Foundation can continue to channel every resource to its mission, unburdened by taxes, until 2027.

Amidst the celebrations, RCMFI also took time to honor its significant contributors, with Trustee Antonilo “Anton” Mauricio leading the acknowledgment of guests who have supported the Foundation’s efforts.

The meeting’s highlight was the announcement of the newly-elected RCMFI Board of Trustees for the Rotary Year 2025-2026. This shift in leadership promises fresh perspectives and a renewed commitment to excellence.
