Club Awards 2016
The Board approved the Club Awards Committee’s recommendations for the Club Awards 2016, from Rotarian of the Year to the Leon Lambert Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Board approved the recommendation of Club Awards Committee headed by Treas. Chito Zaldarriaga, with members - IPP Frank Evaristo, Dir. Oscar del Rosario, Sr., Sec. Jorge Salazar, PT Jim Chua.
1. Rotarian of the Year Award - Rodolfo P. Bediones, District Governor Nominee
In recognition of the invaluable service to the Club, embodying the ideal of service above self on the District level, encouraging active and meaningful participation of the Rotary Club of Manila in the activities of R.I. District 3810 thus enhancing the club relationship with the clubs in the district, public imaging of club activities thru the social media Facebook which activity enhances the public image of the Club; and facilitating the financial donation of Gov Kai (Rotary Japan) whose fund was utilized to restore/rehabilitate livelihood activities and provided homes for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda for Bgy Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental; Roxas City, Capiz and Batad, Iloilo City.
2. Outstanding Rotarian in Club Service - Albert S. Alday, Chairman, Balita Committee, Director Elect RY 2016-2017
In recognition of the invaluable service to the Club for consistently providing editorial service and meaningful content for the RCM award-winning Balita for 5 ROTARY YEARS.
3. Outstanding Rotarian in Community Service - Rtn. Dante R. Arevalo
In recognition of the direct and active participation in the planning and execution of the Medipinas, a medical / surgical mission conducted for women afflicted with cancer, with Universidad Cardenal Herrera (CEU) Spain and Rizal Medical Center, held for two consecutive Rotary Years 2014-2016, which led to the successful staging of the weeklong medical/surgical mission.
4. Outstanding Rotarian in Vocational Service - SAA David J. Reynolds
In recognition of his dedication to and support for the Rotary Club of Manila’s goal of providing training and education for young, deserving but financially challenged men and women, thus giving these young people a chance to change their lives, earn a vocational degree in seamanship or learn useful vocational skills related to the operation of sea craft.
5. Outstanding Rotarian in International Service - PD Edgar L. Lee
In recognition of his active participation in organizing Rotary Club of Manila delegations to different Clubs abroad and in representing the Club with the international sister club / daughter clubs’ inaugural and anniversary meetings, thus expanding contacts for the RCM and building goodwill and better friendships with foreign Rotary Clubs.
6. STAR Rotarian of the Year - Rtn. Joaquin Rodriguez
For meaningfully participating in regular weekly meetings and important activities of the Club, for helping the program committee invite speakers for the weekly luncheon meetings, for proposing new members, and most importantly, for setting a good example of true involvement in Rotary, which both regular and STAR Rotarians can emulate.
7. Leon Lambert Lifetime Achievement Award - Past District Governor Francisco S. Roman
In recognition of his pioneering work as 1st District Governor of the new R.I. District 3810 in RY 1999-2000; And in recognition of Past District Governor Frankie Roman’s achievements:
Awards received: Rotary International Significant Achievement Award by RI President Rajendra K. Saboo, who took notice of his achievements as District Governor; award as Chairman of Polio Plus Campaign; President of Rotary Club of Manila in RY 1991-1992; Most Outstanding Rotarian of the Year Award for Year 1988;
Activities and programs initiated: Seaman’s Training School Project, Mount Pinatubo Rehabilitation Project, the Have A Gavel, Will Make Friends Fellowship Tour of clubs in R.I. District 3810;
Outstanding contributions to RCM-related projects: the Boy Scout of the Philippines, an organization initiated by the Rotary Club of Manila, serving as National President of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, World Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, World Chairman of the World Scout Committee, the highest position of the world in the scouting movement; a Baden Powell Fellow of the World Scout Foundation under the patronage of His Majesty, the King of Sweden, a member of the Board of Directors of the World Scout Foundation and a Life Member of the Royal Bench of the World Scout Foundation.
8. Special Award for Distinguished Service to Rotary Club of Manila, Distinguished Service to the Rotary District and Exemplary Integrity - District Governor Roberto M. Pagdanganan
In leading Rotary Club of Manila’s effort to meaningfully participate in the activities of R.I. District 3810 and in the Rotary International Convention in Seoul, Korea and for his exemplary performance as District Governor of R.I. District 3810 — Earning the 7th place in the whole Rotary World in terms of membership gain, Making R.I. District 3810 among the top 1% District in the world; For surpassing the target contribution to The Rotary Foundation; and For embodying and exemplifying, in his words and action, the ideals of transparency, participatory decision-making and integrity in his management of the Rotary District of which the RCM is a part.
