Last Thursday weekly luncheon meeting, we were able to probe into the mind of the President of the Republic of the Philippines through the words of Secretary Salvador Panelo, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel on various issues hugging the limelight where our Manila Rotarians were kept engaged throughout the meeting as Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017 Katarina Sonja Rodriguez, granddaughter of Rtn. Jack Rodriguez made a cameo appearance.

As for updates within our club, the 60th Anniversary of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Osaka East, this coming May 27, 2017 is fast approaching. For more details, please coordinate with our Secretariat. Last May 17, 2017, our club formally turned over shelter units of Building 2 of Hospicio de San Jose for street families from the City of Manila in Norzagaray, Bulacan where a group of Manila Rotarians joined me.

As to updates within the district, PE Jimmie Policarpio, DE/SAA Lance Masters, DE/Dir. Issam Eldebs, DE/AS Caloy Reyes, IS Alvin Lacambacal and IT Nicky Villaseñor joined DGN Rudy Bediones and IPDG Obet Pagdanganan at the Sofitel Hotel Manila last May 20, 2017 for the DISTAS 2017 (District Training Assembly 2017). Four days later, May 24, 2017, CoS Cesar Ubaldo and SDG/Dir. Albert Alday attended the Mass Charter Presentation and Induction of New Clubs, Officers and Members at the Multipurpose Hall, Camp Crame, Quezon City where the formal lunch of the District 3810 Charter Presidents League was held.

The venue of the District Awards Night which will be on June 3, 2017, 5:00pm was moved to Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City. The attire will be gown for ladies and black tie or tuxedo for gentlemen. Our club has already reserved a table. Please take note of the change in venue.

Today, we welcome Mr. Michael Goldsmith, Senior Adviser and National Master Planner, Office of the President, Republic of Palau, as he enlightens us on his nation building experience in Palau.
