A Legacy of Rotary Service

Latest Update: A phone brigade is in the works to contact different Rotary clubs all over the Philippines to determine the names and the number of Rotarians registering for each club.

Centennial Awards

Latest update: Chair PDG Alex Cureg held a meeting last January 31, 2019 with his Centennial Awards Committee members, ISDG/IS/DE/Dir. Albert Alday, Rtn. Art de la Cruz, Rtn. Jun Alvarez, Dir. Issam Eldebs and IAS/AT Jason Ong to get updates from their respective district governor contact assignments as to the submission of Rotary Success Stories. He likewise gave an update that the submission was extended to February 16, 2019.

Tourism Awards (Centennial Edition)

Latest Update: Chair DE/Dir. Bobby Joseph, PD Abe Pascual, President Susing Pineda, DE/BLA Amading Valdez and PP Francis Juico held a meeting last February 5, 2019 at the Wine Museum in Pasay City where the rudiments of the Centennial Edition of the Rotary Club of Manila Tourism Awards were discussed.

Centennial Gala Night

Latest Update: Chair VPE/PAT Hermie Esguerra announced that on June 22, 2019, our club shall be staging the Centennial Gala Night, a special celebration and treat to every Rotarian's active participation during the entire Centennial Celebration of the Rotary Club of Manila and the Rotary Movement in the Philippines and in Asia. It will feature a sumptuous dinner prepared only for all invited Rotarians and guests. There will be various entertainment numbers by renowned artists of the generation at the Okada Manila. This is strictly by special invitation ONLY.

• RCM Members and Spouses

• Vice President Leni Robredo and other top government officials

• Foreign VIPs & International Rotarians, Mother & Sister Clubs (Selected Officers)

• Daughter Clubs (Selected Officers)

• Selected Rotary Dignitaries

Program Flow

Master of Ceremonies: Mr. Johnny Litton (5:00 pm). Start of Cocktails (1 hour) (6:30 pm). PROGRAM PROPER: Singing of the National Anthem (Philippines, USA and Other Foreign Clubs) & Ecumenical Prayer to be performed by Filipino Cultural Artists – Barasoain Kalinangan and Bulacan State University Saring Himig. Speeches: Welcome Remarks: Chair/VPE Hermie Esguerra (approximately 3-5 mins); Cordial Message: DG Rudy Bediones (5 mins) (7:00 pm). Dinner / Live String Musical Performers; Song numbers by the RCM World Famous Choral (8:00 pm). Entertainments: (2) Surprise Song Performers, El Gamma Penumbra. Unveiling of the Time Capsule/Roster of RCM Centennial Members (Name, Date of Induction). Renewal of the Rotary Oath of all Rotarians to be led by RIPE Mark Maloney. Short Message: RIPE Mark Maloney. Singing of the Rotary Centennial Hymn to be led by RCM Members. Closing Remarks: Centennial President Susing Pineda (9:15pm). Gala Ball by the Live Band and 15-20 Dance Instructors/Instructress

The Centennial Steering Committee held a food tasting and contract signing with officials of OKADA MANILA last January 31, 2019 at Meeting Room 3 of OKADA MANILA in Parañaque City. Present were President Susing Pineda, Chair VPE/PAT Hermie Esguerra, Sec.Gen. Romy Nones, PP Teddy Ocampo, DE/BLA Amading Valdez and ISDG/IS/DE/Dir. Albert Alday.

Rotary Club of Manila Centennial Chorale Competition

Latest Update: The National Eliminations were held last January 29, 2019 at CSI Stadia, CSI Mall, Dagupan City, with fifteen (15) participating regional winners: Regions I, II, III, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, CAR, CARAGA, NCR

The following were awarded with special plaque of recognition with cash prize of PHP 10,000: OVERALL BEST SONG COMPOSITION: Region II: Lal-lo National High School

The following were awarded with special certificate of recognition with cash prize of PHP 25,000: GRAND FINALISTS to the June 21, 2019 Centennial Choral Competition: Cluster A: CAR Region, Baguio City National High School; Cluster B: NCR, Ramon Magsaysay High School; Cluster C: Region V: Zeferino Arroyo High School; Cluster D: Region VII: Negros Oriental National High School; Cluster E: Region XII: General Santos National High School

All other schools received a consolation prize of PHP 5,000 from the Rotary Club of Manila.

Centennial Commemorative Stamps

Latest Update: By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 413, signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, "declaring 01 July 2018 to 30 June 2019, as the 'Year for the Celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Manila and the Rotary Movement in the Philippines and in Asia', the Rotary Club of Manila, First in Asia, will celebrate this milestone achievement of 100 Years of Rotary Service to the Community, a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, during its Centennial Rotary Year 2018-2019, its centennial birth anniversary being this June 1, 2019.

One of the Centennial Projects of the Rotary Club of Manila is the issuance of a limited edition Centennial Commemorative Stamp in collaboration with the Philippine Postal Corporation. This is a once-in-a-lifetime memorabilia which is guaranteed to last generations such that it becomes collector's item.
