President’s Corner

President Jackie Rodriguez reports on the return to the Manila Polo Club, environmental awards, the drive to reach 250 members and the lined-up guest speakers.

President’s Corner

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

We had an amazing and educational meeting last week. Our guest speaker was not only extra friendly and knowledgeable, but. had the ability to communicate very well, even in Tagalog. I was also impressed with his tremendous generosity. I saw some of the items he gave as gifts and they were precious and beautiful. Congratulations to the lucky winners and thank you very much Harry Owen of GIA.

We’re back to our old home at the Manila Polo Club. There is a commitment for better service and better food. There is ample parking. Our net cost Is one thousand pesos per member. All our meetings will be held here at the Manila Polo Club, except for the meeting of October 24th with the Ambassador of the United States. That will be at the Manila Hotel.

There is a clamor for the Rotary Club of Manila to initiate the awarding of annual environmental achievement awards of recognition to deserving individuals and groups. I encourage this because it would be another highway towards the national tree planting and water cleaning programs’ success.

Our vice president is working hard to increase and improve the quality of our membership. This includes the entry of young, intelligent, and highly qualified new members. Possibly, your sons, friends, neighbors, business associates or long-lost classmates. We have to reach the 250 membership level this year before Christmas. We have 26 members to go. Please! Please help me. Please help your club!

I urge you to take a look at the list of guest speakers that we have lined up for you up to January 9, 2019 of the incoming year. This is a magnificent combination and variety. Thank you Past President Jimmie for such a wonderful and great job of bringing quality programs to our club.

I have encouraged our friends, the clubs in our district as well as other districts to join us in some of our meetings, for them to connect to us, to be able to learn from our programs and meetings, to build better friendships and hopefully, to create lasting relationships with all the rotary clubs of our country on this Centennial year.

Best, Jackie
