Pres. Jackie Rodriguez, during his President’s Time, reminds fellow Manila Rotarians to attend The Rotary Foundation Recognition Gala Night, which the club is hosting, on November 16, 2019 at the Grand Ballroom of OKADA Manila in Parañaque City. He thanked with sincere appreciation the valuable donors to the event headed by Event Chairman Vice President “Hermie” Esguerra. He also announced the team of next Thursday’s luncheon meeting with UP President Danilo Concepcion as Guest of Honor and Speaker, of which UP’s Upsilon Sigma Phi, the oldest Fraternity in Asia, will be invited for a joint meeting. Other forthcoming guest speakers previewed were Dr. Willie Ong, Medical Director, Pasay Charity Health Center; Columnist, The Philippine STAR and Pilipino Star Ngayon on November 28, 2019, as facilitated by Vice President “Hermie” Esguerra; Hon. Panfilo Lacson, Senator, Republic of the Philippines on December 5, 2019; RCM Christmas Dinner Fellowship/Townhall Meeting at the Hotel Fairmont Makati on December 10, 2019; PVP/Hon. Benjamin Diokno, Governor, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, on January 9, 2020, a joint meeting of Rotary Club of Manila and the Bankers Association of the Philippines at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel; Rtn./Hon. Secretary William D. Dar, Department of Agriculture (DA), a horticulturist, spoke before Manila Rotarians and their guests on his ultimate goal of ensuring that the country’s food security will be self-sufficient as long as the necessary resources possible will be available. He believed that food security is becoming the “over-arching goal of agriculture” and is defined by the country’s wealth and production.
A public forum followed suit with PD Rod Valencia, Rtn. Celso Abastillas, Rtn. Henning Karcher and VP Hermie Esguerra raising their respective questions to Secretary William D. Dar.
