President’s Corner
President Jackie Rodriguez welcomes the new year, looks back on the club’s Christmas service and ambassador visits, and welcomes BSP Governor Ben Diokno.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Welcome everybody to a new year! After a fabulous 2019, your club is looking forward to an even greater year. There was a lot of excitement, many achievements, and a great amount of successes. But, that did not come without sweat and tears However, there was also a lot of joy and happiness in serving our little children at the Hospicio de San Jose, the Christmas Party for the Cancer-Stricken Children at the Philippine General Hospital and at the Asilo de San Vicente de Paul. There were likewise the visits of our ambassadors to Palawan, Bangkok, Cebu, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Orlando, Davao, Singapore, Scandinavia and other countries.
Many clubs enjoyed our National Tree Planting Day last June 15, 2019. This will be repeated on June 15, 2020 when we would expect over 200 clubs to join us. The laws that we are requesting are moving with satisfaction according to the Office of the Senate President. I hope and pray that these laws are passed as they will benefit our environment and our country.

We had a great celebration and fellowship at our Christmas party. Thank you very much to the Program Committee Chair. Jimmie and his members as well as the Fellowship Committee Chair Jason and his members who made everything possible. That was a great night.
In the next few days about twenty (20) RCM ambassadors are visiting Boracay under the leadership of Assistant Secretary and Ambassador Ariel Abriam where they will be connecting and working with the various Rotary clubs in the island of Panay. This promises to be productive. A group led by Knud, Butch and Jun went earlier to pave the way and ensure the success of the main forces. There will likewise be trips to Batangas and to Kolkata. Also being formed by the Rotary Club of Manila is the worldwide Centenial Circle. So far, there are indications that Shanghai, Kolkota and Seattle are joining the Centenial Circle.
Today, we welcome the Governor of the government’s most respected and prestigious institution, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Welcome Gov. Ben Diokno. We are all anxious to hear the very first page of the year from our fellow member in our club. We are proud of him. Welcome home Ben.
Best, Jackie
