Protect Yourself Against 2019-nCoV

Dr. Elias D. Adamos says the Novel Coronavirus belongs to strains that can cause the common cold, and lists health practices to prevent its spread.

2019-nCoV is not a deadly virus. The Novel Coronavirus or 2019-nCoV that first appeared in Wuhan, China belongs to the strains of coronaviruses that can cause common cold. Signs and symptoms pointing to 2019-nCoV are thus similar to common cold.

2019-nCoV is not only an airborne infection. It can transfer from one person to another and can even be contracted from the things that you touch and hold.

Treatment is the same as that of common cold: Fever and cough medicines, plenty of fluids, healthy foods and bed rest.

Protect Yourself by Observing the Following Health Practices

1. Wash hands often. Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Be Responsible. Prevent the Spread of 2019-nCoV

1. If you are sick or you feel that you are about to get sick, just stay at home. Stay at home while you are sick.

2. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the waste can and wash your hands.

3. Avoid close contact with people who are suffering from fever and cold.

4. Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects.
