President's Corner
President Jackie Rodriguez reports on the Rotary Club of Calcutta centennial celebration and the Centennial Circle, and calls for tree planting and registration for the Mindoro trip.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
It has been a very happy, hectic and successful week. The trip to Kolkata to join the Centennial Celebration of the Rotary Club of Calcutta was an absolute success highlighted by the signing of the agreement with the Rotary Club of Calcutta and the Rotary Club of Shanghai to include those clubs into the Centennial Circle. The celebration was highlighted as the birth of Rotary in India and hence, the thousands of Rotary clubs in India participated in the weeklong affair. The Centennial Circle, headed by the Rotary Club of Manila Ambassador of Goodwill Circle Vice Chair PD Nick Locsin started, founded and is, presently, spearheading this program. The incoming members are the Rotary Club of Seattle and the Rotary Club of Tokyo. The signing ceremonies giving birth to the Centennial Circle was witnessed by Rotary International President Mark Maloney and Rotary International President-Elect Holger Knaack. Once again, WE ARE FIRST!!!!!
I would like to thank the Rotary Club of Calcutta for the magnificent hosting they did for the Rotary Club of Manila members (VPE Thad and wife, PDSAA Ferdie Co and wife, Vice Chair PD Nick Locsin, Rtn. Dr. John Michael Cutter and yours truly). The food was amazing, the friendships were outstanding, the programs ran perfectly. Everything was just perfect.
Today, we are so lucky to have the MAN OF THE HOUR, our very own, Ambassador Babe Romualdez. We miss him and his presence is most welcome. I am anxious to see and meet him. Welcome Babe.

I am requesting each member to prepare for the Rotary National Tree Planting Day on June 15, 2020. Prepare your seedlings now. Plant a tree or more on that day. Document it please and submit the picture to me.
Mindoro! Here we come! Thank you PD Rod Valencia for your magnificent schedule. For those going, please register with Anna now.
Best,
Jackie
