President’s Corner

Dear Colleagues in RCM,

Thank you Lord for all the Rotarians and Rotaractors who are active, creative and passionate to serve the community with the highest respect of the 4 Way Test as our guiding principle. Being a proud member of the Rotary Club of Manila since 1999, I have grown to love the club because of friendships and to serve above self. The club has given me the opportunity to share my openness on how we can contribute to the success of the club and help our fellow members network with each other.

Fellowship and service go together but when we have to decide on what is good for the club, friendship has to give way and our ideals of honesty and fairness have to prevail for the good of all, not for a few. We have a responsibility and accountability to protect the legacy we have inherited from the member leaders who have gone ahead as leaders embodied with transparency and servitude who have made a difference in our country and the world.

We are a very select group among our society, so, the more we have to emphasize that no one should take advantage or disrespect our friendship and camaraderie. We all enjoy it with the highest esteem. We frown upon dictators as we are a service organization to the highest order. We are all servant leaders whose motto is Service Above Self. It is good that the Presidency is limited to one year. As President it takes much of one’s time, money, effort and stress, yet, it is challenging and fulfilling,

We encourage all Rotarians to take online learnings by registering to www.rotary.org. We want you all to be rotarized for you to appreciate and enjoy being true blooded Rotarians.

As your servant President for the Rotary Year 2020 2021, I need your suggestions and cooperation to get this year under the pandemic going! We have to make it very fruitful by engaging, networking and serving our communities to the best way we can. On behalf of the Transformational Team, let us bring our very best and protect and promote the best of RCM and RCMFI .

For your contributions to The Rotary Foundation, kindly take the offer of PDG Alex Cureg, IPP Jackie Rodriguez and Chairman IPVP Hermie Esguerra. You will only have to contribute only US $500 instead of USD1,000 to become a Paul Harris Fellow as your contribution will be matched with 500 points. We urge all non-Paul Harris Fellows and Paul Harris Fellows to take advantage of the offer. Our Club has to be a 100% Paul Harris Fellows before December. Your contribution is of tremendous value in the humanitarian work of The Rotary Foundation in developing parts of the world and thereby expresses appreciation for your gift by naming you a Paul Harris Fellow or Multi PHF.

Many have requested to continue the Balita. We need your comments on how we can improve, especially, that we now have a page on Facebook, Rcm Balita, for members to read and review past editions.

Some have suggested a minimum monthly contribution for charity projects since members have not been spending for transportation and food since the pandemic. Perhaps, we should bring this matter to the general assembly for a vote and if approved, collect every quarter.

We thank our Lord God for our health, happiness, family unity and abundance. We have the opportunity to be of service with those who are in dire need, sick, lonely, hungry. Let us all pray for our countrymen that this pandemic has taught us good lessons for the future.
