President’s Corner

President Bobby Joseph announces the October 26 turnover and inaugural ceremonies at the Heritage Hotel and other club matters.

Dear Colleagues in RCM,

Good afternoon, this gorgeous Thursday of October, fellow Rotarians. May God’s blessings shine upon you, your family and friends! May your prayers be answered for the good of mankind and the world.

On the 26th of October, Monday, at 5 pm, we shall see you for the first time after several months of being in quarantine, to celebrate our turn over and inaugural ceremonies. Congratulations in advance to the awardees during the recognition time at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City. We have invited the leaders in District 3810 led by District Governor Odie Tarriela, PDG Roberto Obet Pagdanganan, IPDG Liza Elorde, DGE Robert Koa and DGN Joyce Ambray. Health protocols will be imposed, including proper distancing. This is the first face-to-face meeting and we hope it continues for better rapport and synergy.

The Awards for Tourism Personalities and the Journalism Awards will be held in January 2021. The Tower Awards is still in limbo until we get a benefactor like Metrobank Foundation or Petron Foundation to sponsor the event. We shall not touch the coffers of the Rotary Club of Manila for the three events.

Let me reiterate, should you need any clarification about any procedures in administration or on any matter, kindly email ES Anna and cc: The President, for the Board to officially reply to avoid miscommunication.

As agreed, we will invite the Star Rotarians next week to meet the Board for a short briefing followed by a Question and Answer portion. We will choose a date for the President to host in groups of five (5) to six (6) Star Rotarians for cocktails.

Congratulations! The new Board for RY 2021-2022 is now organized. We shall meet regularly during our board meetings, encouraging them to take early online training courses with www.rotary.org and soon with Rotary International District 3810.

Now that we have emailed the soft copy of the Constitution, By-Laws and Code of Policies, it is incumbent for all members to review and appreciate the documents crafted for the betterment of the Rotary Club of Manila.

We need to conduct a survey among those who have never participated in Zoom. If necessary, we shall send someone to visit the homes of our members to teach them how to use Zoom. We also need feedback where we can improve. I am looking forward to more suggestions, contributions, and out-of-the-box ideas to make the Rotary Club of Manila proactive.

Please help the needy, the sick and the marginalized — your contributions will go a long way. Please issue your check to RCManila Foundation, Inc. Thank you for your time and efforts.

Your Servant President, Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph, Jr., President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
